Being an MVP

Ready
". . .you shine like stars in the world. Hold firmly the message of life."

-Philippians 2:15-16

This year's foot-brawl between Miami and FIU had the sports world buzzing for weeks. What took place on the field was an example of emotions that ran out of control, and it revealed the true character of certain members of both teams. It exposed what was in their hearts. From that fight, all athletes and coaches should be challenged to examine theirselves to see if they are hiding the same traits inside.

Obviously, not everyone has the ability to be a world-class athlete, but something that is within everyone's reach is the ability to be an MVP: a Most Valuable Person. It doesn't take great ability, wealth, or education to become an MVP. Achieving MVP status starts within and is played out by the way you think and the way you act. You are responsible for your thoughts. You are accountable for your actions. But, is there a key to being an MVP? Yes!

The master key is knowing the Master Himself! As you surrender control of your heart to Jesus and allow Him to be Lord over your life He will instill in you a shining light -- an inner excellence -- that holds fast to the Word of life and helps you to respond to adversity rather than react. It allows you to stay positive in negative situations and cool in the heat of competition.

Being an MVP goes way beyond winning and losing. It's about what's on the inside working it's way to the outside, shining the light of excellence.

Go
1. Do you struggle with losing control in the heat of competition?
2. Have you surrendered your heart to Jesus?
3. What is holding you back from letting Jesus be your Master?
