Our Defense

Ready

“Don’t assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” –Matthew 10:34

Set

With the media magnifying all that is wrong and corrupt in the world today, it’s hard for people to believe that a loving God could let this happen. From the moment Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, the relationship between God and man has been altered. Because of that sin, we see and experience the bad, the ugly, and the brutal. Although this is our burden, Jesus provides an escape from this world to be a part of a better place—His kingdom. God wants us to be victorious!

Through Jesus, our tests become our testimonies. In darkness, we have light. We alone don’t have the willpower nor strength to overcome what life throws at us. It is in Jesus where we can stand triumphantly, giving all the glory to God.

Life doesn’t have to be so hard. God sent His blessed Son to eradicate this life. We can lean on Him, and He will carry us through the valleys. We don’t have to struggle because He has overcome the world. Instead, we can use His Word to have a different life. His words are our defense so that when we are faced with an obstacle in life, His words resonate in our heads, giving us strength, patience, and endurance to persevere. When we lean on Him, we draw closer to Him and can experience true life.

Go

1. Do you struggle with blaming God for difficult circumstances rather than seeing them as opportunities to lean on Him?
2. What do you do when you encounter a problem?
3. What’s preventing you from going to Him when you need help?
