To Save a Life - I Don't Want To Be Some Christian Study

Summary
Jake goes to youth group but never leaves the back of his truck.  Chris comes out to go home and they discuss about why someone should believe in God.  Jake remarks there are so many “fakers” in the group, and he did not want to be “just some Christian”.

Verse
“The Lord said: Because these people approach Me with their mouths to honor Me with lip-service—yet their hearts are far from Me, and their worship [consists of] man-made rules learned [by rote]—"  - Isaiah 29:13

Discussion Questions

  1. Jake tells Chris he thinks many in the youth group are “fakers.”  What did he mean by this statement?  How do the fakers act in your school or youth group?  What gives them away as a faker?

  2. What do you think he meant by “some Christian”? How are Christians perceived at your school?

  3. What are your thoughts on the following statement, “they believe in God, but live like He doesn’t exist”?

  4. Read Isaiah 29:13. How does the Lord describe these people?  Why do these kinds of people upset the Lord?

  5. If you were coming out of a Huddle and saw a friend who did not come in because of fakers and hypocrites, how would you share your faith with him or her?  Take turns sharing your faith with others in groups of three or four.
