Stand Strong in Your Faith

Key Verse: "These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world." - 1 Peter 1:7

• Shalee has been asked many times about giving up.  Why would athletes want to give up in their sport?  Is this a common feeling?  Explain.

• Where do you need to stand strong as a competitor today?   What has been your most recent set back?  How did you respond to it?

• What is fulfilling about overcoming tough times in sports?  

• Read 1 Peter 1:6-8.  How can you experience joy as you go through trials in your life?  

• Standing strong in your faith can bring you through many tough events.  If you were tested by how strong you stand in your faith on a scale of 1-10, where would you be and why?

• The key verse and Shalee both talk about the joy found in your faith when you succeed during tough times.  Trials definitely test your faith and purify them.  How is your faith being tested right now?  Are you filled with joy or filled with worry as you go through it?

• Pray that God will help you stand strong in your faith today, this week, and this year.
