Here's the Plan...

Ready

“Many are the plans in man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.”
-Proverbs 19:21

Set

Most students often have to answer questions about their future plans. Whether we are asked about our plans for school, the weekend, or even just the afternoon, it generally isn't that hard to answer. "Oh, I'm going to [this university] and participating in [this sport]." Or, "I'm going to chill with some friends." Etc. One day though, I found myself answering a question that was a little more serious: “What are your plans for your life?”

Man, did this question hit me hard. The reason it hit me hard, though, was because I thought I had my life all figured out. Now, you may be thinking, "Hey that's great!" That was my initial thought also, but then I realized that having my life all planned out wasn't that great. I had figured out where I wanted to go for college, how high I wanted to reach in academics, and what I wanted to pursue in athletics. The problem was that I was so determined to make sure sure my plans were successful, I wasn't striving toward the plans the LORD had for me. In fact, I was completely missing them because my focus was on myself and on my plans.

One incredible thing about our God is this: Even though we are focused on our plans, the Lord's purpose can still prevail! For me, even though I was trying to live life my way, God still managed to get glory from the situation and was still able to use me!

Maybe, it's time you realized that the plans you have for your life don't match up with what the Lord desires for you. If that is the case, it may be time to surrender to God's will for your life. Stop telling Him what the plan is and start asking!

Go

1. What are your plans for your life?
2. Are they plans you have made?
3. Are you willing to seek the Lord's will for your life even if it means your personal plans don't match up?
