Power Within You

Ready

…and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

Set

I love the movie Space Jam. It’s about a retired basketball player (Michael Jordan) who gets kidnapped by a group of cartoons who need his help to beat some aliens in a game of basketball. In the movie, the nerdy-looking aliens absorb the powers of NBA superstars into their own bodies and become instantly skilled.

Just imagine absorbing the basketball skills of LeBron James into your body. How would you play then? Like you were unstoppable? Absolutely!

Reread the opening verse. Did you notice something? “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” When we accept Jesus as our Savior, He comes alive in us. We absorb Christ! Obviously this is more profound than aliens absorbing athletic powers, but you get the picture.

When we place our faith in the one true God—when we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that Jesus is Lord, we are saved (Romans 10:9). God then sends His Spirit to live inside us so we can reveal Him to the world around us. With God’s Spirit in us, we have the ability to become who we couldn’t be without Him—filled with love, joy, peace and the other fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25).

So stop walking around feeling powerless and defeated. As a believer in Christ, you have His Spirit in you! And you have the power to live a fruitful, victorious and dynamic life for Him.

Go
  1. Have you ever considered God’s power in you?

  2. Do you tend to walk around feeling powerless of powerful?

  3. Have you placed your faith in God?
