Big Faith

Ready

“Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” – Hebrews 11:6

Set

When faced with an impossible task, you must believe your goal is achievable. Let’s say you tore your ACL and require surgery and rehab to be able to play again. You are unsure what type of athlete you will be once you return.

If you start the season with zero faith in your body’s ability to heal and your ability to recover, then odds are you won’t. But, if you have faith and believe you can get better, that belief will move you toward achieving goals you never thought possible.

Our faith is powerful. Belief is powerful. To have a close relationship with God, we must have enough faith to believe that our God is alive, real, and for us. If we simply have the idea of God in our head, that is not enough to move us closer to Him. Just like the thought of being healed from your ACL tear won’t heal the ligament. You must have active faith to move closer to a relationship with God.

Active faith is when you are called to a seemingly impossible task, but trust that God will provide you with the resources. In the rest of Hebrews 11, we are reminded of people throughout scripture who had faith during challenging circumstances. What did all these people have in common? Before they had faith in the task, they strongly believed in God the Father. They pursued a close relationship with Him and believed in who He was.

To accomplish big things for God, we must have even bigger faith in who God is.

Go
  • Are there aspects of God that you struggle to believe?
  • Is God calling you to something big now? How is your faith in the calling?
Overtime

“God our Father, we come to You in prayer, humbly requesting that Your Spirit be poured out among us today. Strengthen our faith in who You are. Give us assignments that require us to have big faith. Help us look to You and believe in who You are with our whole self. Amen.”
