Glory
Introduction:
We live in a world that suffers from the “me disease.” We see glimpses of it everywhere in sports from not big enough contracts, to not enough TV time, to not enough playing time. When we suffer from the “me disease” our lives are controlled by who gets the glory. This battle over who gets the glory can destroy individuals, relationships, and teams.
Application:
- How have you seen the “me disease” play out in the sports world?
- Name some times where you have struggled with the “me disease”?
- How can a team be destroyed by the battle for glory?
Bridge:
Jesus said in John 7:18, “The one who speaks for himself seeks his own glory. But He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”
- What does this verse say about getting the glory?
- What is personal glory vs. God glory?
- We all want to be real and a person of truth like the verse says. How do we do that?
Connection:
- What does it mean to give God glory?
- What are some ways you can give God the glory in your sport?
- How can your team give God glory?
Discovery:
Take some time alone with God to seek Him and His glory.
