Alive and Powerful
“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” – Hebrews 4:12
There’s nothing like a strong pregame routine to get you fired up for competition and put you in the right frame of mind to win. What gets you on your feet and ready to make the most of your game? Perhaps you have a list of motivational quotes, a dynamic music playlist, Bible verses, or a script of affirming self-talk to get your energy up.
The Word of God is the most effective aspect of a pregame routine for our daily lives. The Bible connects us to the constant flow of power that makes life worth living.
The Word is alive. Its application never goes away even with the shifts and changes of time and culture. It’s as relevant to us today as when it was inspired years ago. That’s why we must hear, read, and implement the Bible in our daily lives--even in our sport. Because sports are a significant part of our lives as coaches and athletes, the Source of all Life should be infused there also. So, let’s use what God is teaching us through His Word both on and off our field of play.
- Share a time when you read your Bible and saw the scripture play out in life?
- What was that experience like?
- How as seeing God’s Word alive in your life shaped your perspective of the Bible?
John 1:1-6; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Proverbs 7:2-4
“Lord, Thank You for the relevance of Your Word today. It is the gift that teaches me how best to live this life and the power to do so. Come alive in me today and inspire me to live and play with Your Word at the center of my personality. In Jesus’ Name."
