The Green Team
“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” -- Romans 12:2
I recently attended a rec league soccer game for three- to five-year-olds. It soon became clear that both teams were wearing shirts of the same green color.
At first, to the observers and the referee, the game appeared chaotic. But as the game went on, it became clear that the color of the shirts did not change the game plan or the goal for the kids, and we could soon easily tell who belonged to what team.
In the same way that each athlete knew what their game plan was and who their teammates were, especially during a time when they were being tested, God calls us to do the same in our lives. The only way to know God’s great plan for our lives and be able to fulfill it is to know Him, read His Word, and surround ourselves with people with the same goal.
Peter writes, “Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits.” (1 Peter 2:12)
We are called to live our lives in such a way that sets us apart — that glorifies God and points others to Him.
- How can you develop your relationship with God to have His will become clearer?
- In what ways can you be a witness to your teammates as you work toward a common goal?
“Lord, help me see and live the life that You’ve designed for me. Help me be a light to others through my relationship with You. Amen.”
