The Play That Changes Everything
“We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.” -- 2 Corinthians 4:8–9
The odds seem stacked against you. The score is not in your favor. The other team has an unstoppable momentum. Then, out of nowhere, your team makes a simple game-changing play that turns imminent defeat into potential victory.
Every athlete knows that something small can change a game’s outcome. The greatest sports stories are about the underdogs — the ones who have no chance of winning but come from behind and win! Those are the stories movies are made of.
When we follow Christ, there can be times when we sit and wait for something major to happen in our walk with Jesus. We forget that something small can have a major impact on our lives and change our hearts forever. There will be times when we will feel defeated; there will be times we will want to give up; and there will be times we will think there is no hope. But those are the times in which God can mature us.
As Christians, we must always seek out the opportunities (big or small) to have big impacts — for our teams, our communities and our world.
- How can you search for the small things God is trying to show you?
- What small thing can you do for your team that will make a big impact?
“God, help me remember to seek You when I feel defeated, and to see You in the little things in life. Mature me to be a better follower of You. Amen.”
