Ready. Set. Execute (The Playbook)
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” – Matthew 7:24
A playbook--every coach has one in some shape or another. For some sports, it’s a workout plan designed to get athletes in peak condition at the right time. In other sports, it’s a collection of routes to execute in a game. All forms of playbooks are a strategy of execution to win. No playbook of any form was ever put together to just look at on a shelf or to talk about but never use in a game. Coaches put in the work to develop a playbook because they believe that plan is the key to their team’s victory.
The Word of God created everything in existence today. It is the material out of which are all made. That very Word through whom all things were created became a living person. Jesus came to fulfill and live out what was spoken. He practiced what was preached and left us an example. The Bible is our Playbook.
It is expected when athletes hit the playing field, that they know what is in the playbook. They’ve studied it and even commit plays to memory. The plan is ingrained in their minds so that they can live it out on the competition field. They follow their coaches’ strategy because they believe it to be the key to success. When a particular play is called, or a change is made, they are ready to execute.
Let’s do the same with the life-giving Word of God. Let’s study the Playbook He’s provided for us and fuse what He is teaching us into life on and off the playing field.
- What have you read in the Bible that you would like to implement in your life?
- Where are the opportunities to execute that Word daily?
John 1:1-6; Matthew 7:24-27; James 1:22; Deuteronomy 11:18
“Lord, Your Words provide me with the key to life and satisfaction. Open my mind to understanding and teach me. Draw me in so that I make time to learn and inspire me to do all that it says. In Jesus’ Name.”
