Who Am I?

"But Moses asked God, “Who am Is that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” — Exodus 3:11
Many of us know the exciting story of Moses and the major events that occurred during the time of his leadership. We think of the miracles such as the burning bush and the parting of the Red Sea, and we recall the awesome wonder of the Ten Commandments. What we tend to ingore is the beginning of the story when God came and commissioned Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When the call came, Moses questioned his ability not once but five times (see Ex 3–4). God reassured Moses, and eventually Moses stepped up to the plate.
It is not uncommon for us, just like Moses, to question our ability to carry out our calling, especially when we feel unworthy or uncomfortable with the assignment. When God tells us to go, He is also telling us that He is going with us just as He was with Moses. “I will certainly be with you,” God said (Ex 3:12).
A competitor’s ultimate objective is winning. But for competitors who belong to Jesus Christ, winning is only a small part of real victory. Winning souls is of much greater significance. Championship trophies are won as the result of extraordinary physical and mental effort, but unless they are won for the glory of God, the value of a trophy is limited. If God has called us to coach, He has also promised to go with us.
1. In what areas of your life do you sense a call to bring glory to God in specific ways by using your gifts and talents? Are you willing?
2. Is winning souls for Christ a part of your championship plan?
3. Do you test your personal plans and goals against the standard of God’s Word?

Lord, I pray that when I hear the voice of Your Word, I will not cower with fear or unwillingness to follow. I pray that I will stand strong, knowing that You are going with me. I also pray to see Your power turn the ordinary into the extraordinary for Your glory and our blessing. Amen.
