You Have No Wall
Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think—according to the power that works in you.–Ephesians 3:20
“You have no wall.” The cardboard sign tacked to the telephone pole couldn’t have appeared at a better time. As I pushed my legs up the hill of mile 10 in the local half marathon, I knew this would be the toughest part of the race. During training, mile 10 had always been the hardest both mentally and physically—and now it was uphill.
“You have no wall.” It was like God’s voice resonating in my mind as I pushed my legs a little harder, trying to crest the incline as fast as I could. And just then it hit me—I had no wall. I had trained hard enough to make it through mile 10 and finish the race well.
While some physical walls in athletics are imaginary, spiritual walls are always figments of our imagination—lies we are fed by our enemy. We have no spiritual walls because we serve a limitless God. No matter what we think we can’t do, if God has brought the task, He will provide a way to accomplish it. With the Spirit of God inside of us—the Spirit of an all-powerful God—we are fully capable of doing the things He asks.
The next time we think God has asked us to do something impossible, we need to remember whom it is we serve. We have no wall.
1. What impossible situation are you facing?
2. Are you fully convinced that God will help you to complete it, or do you doubt Him?
3. What do you need to do to get to know God better?
