Just like a top athletic performer pursues his or her goals in training, so does God want us to wholeheartedly pursue a relationship with Him. Far too many Christians act like spectators in the race of life. But life is the biggest race of all, and God wants us to compete and to win--He expects this of us!
In order to compete in this race, we need empowerment. Many times in my own life, I seem to think that I can do things all on my own without the help of the Lord. But the sole reason for our creation is to have a relationship with God. It says in the book of 1 John chapter 1 that through Christ we can have a fellowship with God. Wow! We can have a relationship with God. Not only does this give you, me and the Lord great joy, but also through His power in us, we are empowered to do His will.
Today, as you are involved with your athletic responsibilties, you must take into account that without relationships, we can't exist. We are not able to accomplish the goals that God has given us to achieve. I challenge you to develope a better understanding of the word "relationship." Discover what it means to have a relationship with God and to be in relationship with others. Do this and both you and your team will excel abundantly.
