"The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek Him."

The 2006 NFL kicked off with events in stadiums all across America commemorating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. That was a day when football was put in perspective for players, coaches and fans, and opponents were united. "It was a sad day, but at the same time it was a day that brought this whole nation together," New York Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington said.
When King Jehoshaphat of Judah learned that his enemies were on their way to make war on him and his country he got scared because of how powerful the enemy was. Yet, the Bible also tells us that he "resolved to inquire of the Lord" (v.3). Jehoshaphat was afraid, and the people were afraid, but they decided to come together to seek the Lord's guidance, praying, "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You" (v.12).
As I reflect on the 9/11 attacks I remember how much our nation came together, how many sought help from the Lord, and how churches were filled with people inquiring of the Lord. Unfortunately, it was relatively short-lived.
Whether it's with our family, our team, our community, or our nation, we need to not only come together in times of uncertainty and seek the Lord, but to stick with Him and with each other.
