Unstoppable in the Zone
Introduction
Occasionally a team emerges from among its peers, even from its own history, and seems to be unstoppable. They breeze through their regular season schedule and power through the playoffs, eventually becoming champions. Have you ever experienced such power and excellence in sport first hand?
Application
- What memories come to mind when you recall your best performances, most dynamic plays, and most productive games?
- What would it look like for a team to be unstoppable in your sport?
- What are the ultimate goals for your team this season?
Bridge
- Read Ephesians 3:20-21: “Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think – according to the power that works in you – to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
- How much does the author say that God is able to do in us?
- How much can you dare to ask or imagine that God can do in your life?
- To whom does the glory for all that accomplishment belong?
Connection
- When and where do you have a sense that God’s power is at work in your life?
- How can we, as a team, give God the honor and glory due Him as we achieve highly?
Discovery
- Think about how you can develop a sense of God’s presence and power as you compete at practice and on game day.
- Discuss with your teammates and coaches ways to give thanks and glory to God.
