Tune into the Savior
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” -- John 10:27
When I was a kid, I loved radio. While most kids were buying cassette tapes and playing music loud on boom boxes that they would sling on their shoulder or Walkmans that they’d hook to their belt, I was listening to talk radio on the AM dial during the day and late nights, and sports in the evening. It was great because anytime I wanted to dial in, there was something on.
As an adult, I have often wondered if and how God was communicating to me. I’ve never heard the audible voice of God, but after asking a lot of faithful people how they experience hearing from God and in studying the Bible-centered around this question, I’ve come to understand that God communicates in many ways and for many purposes.
Radio stations broadcast over their signal all day long. Now, we can’t hear the station unless we have our radio turned on AND tuned into their specific signal. Many times my “God radio” is not turned on and then I wonder why I’m not hearing from God.
I love listening to baseball on the radio. On more than one occasion I will have listened to the radio all day long, and at night, tune in to hear the local team play only to learn they had a day game earlier. I had the radio on all day but didn’t hear the game because I was listening to other stations.
I’ve done the same with God. If I want to hear from God, I have to be sure I’ve tuned my ears, my heart, and my attention to his station. John records in his Gospel Jesus saying, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
In times when you need comfort, guidance, His presence, encouragement, and care, be sure you have your radio on and it’s tuned to God’s frequency. He wants to communicate with YOU!

“Lord, I know You communicate to me more than I hear. Give me ears to hear what You have to say. Help me to tune my heart to Your frequency. Clear the clutter in my mind and heart so that I can hear You clearly. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.”
