On The Clock

Ready

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”
-Galatians 5:22-23

Set

With all the rain in the Chicago area this spring, I had plenty of time to watch the NFL Draft. It always intrigues me how it takes so long for teams to make their selections in each round. A team is on the clock until the final player is chosen. What a process.

In my Monday-night men’s small group, we recently talked about the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) and which of the nine we needed the Lord’s help with this week. One of our men mentioned faithfulness. As he described how he needed more faithfulness, I realized that all of us are essentially “on the clock.” We’re called to be faithful 24/7. Faithful to the Lord, faithful to our work, faithful to our families, faithful to our school, faithful to our team. The list goes on and on. There’s never a moment when we’re not called to be living faithful lives unto the Lord. Just as those men in the draft room make selections when it is their time, we need to remember that it is always our time to be living as Christ would have us live. Constant faithfulness to Him!

This week, ask yourself where you need to be more faithful. You are on the clock! Stop right now and ask the Lord to help you in this area, and commit to telling a friend or loved one that you need prayer support. You will be glad you did.

Go
  1. Do you need to be more faithful in your walk with the Lord?
  2. What is your plan to develop that fruit of the Spirit?
  3. Ask the Lord today to show you how He wants you to implement this plan in your life.
