A Given Victory
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” -- 1 Corinthians 15:57
Have you ever experienced victory in a fierce competition with an older brother or sister? What happens when they then say, “I gave you that win”? Hearing those words can quickly drain our confidence because even after all the effort, we didn’t really earn the victory. It was given to us.
As competitors, we want our opponents to be in their best possible shape and to compete as best they can. We want to know that we’ve earned our victories!
In life, we are in a battle — or game, if you will — that has winners and losers. Some will be “given” eternal life, and others will have chosen eternal death. I don’t know about you, but when it comes to my eternity, this is one instance in which I’d rather be given the victory!
Jesus is the only one who can give us this victory. Receive it and walk in the confidence the Holy Spirit gives you. That way, no matter who or what you face in life, victory has been given to those who are in Christ.
- In what ways do you experience or live out the victory God has given you on a daily basis?
- How can you share the victory you have in Jesus with your teammates and friends?
“Lord, I thank You for giving me victory over sin and death! Amen.”
