Only God Satisfies

"In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:6

Set

It was my senior year of high school and I had it all going for me. The ideal life- 4.0 GPA, captain of the volleyball team, dating the captain of the football team and going to play college volleyball. What could possibly go wrong? Well, let me tell you. When you are too self-absorbed and try to do everything without God, you fail. Period.

I stopped putting God first in my prayer life, with my devotions and with everthing all together. In the blink of an eye, the school I was going to play at, closed down. I got injured halfway through my last high school season. My relationship with my boyfriend became toxic and wasn't glorifying Christ. The only thoughts I had were "why is this happening?". Suddenly, all the idols I had put before God, were gone. I realized I needed to focus on living for Christ.

After all these trials had hit me, my faith grew tremendously. I realized God had a plan for that low point in my life. I was not putting God first before and was not acting like a follower of Christ. I was making idols out of things of this world. We should be striving to live for Him and giving glory to His name, not idolizing earthly possessions.

  1. What in your life are you putting before God?
  2. How can you rely on Him when things don't go your way?
