True Freedom

Offseason is always a sweet time in our household. My husband goes from traveling every week to being home each night. Late nights are replaced with family dinners, and Saturdays are open again.

With the offseason comes a certain freedom that helps pull our family closer. We no longer feel the strain of separation the busy seasons call us to. This freedom closes the gap that grows between us.

As sinners, we are separated from God. He is perfect, and our imperfect self can’t be in union with Him until we are cleansed. We won’t completely close that gap until we join God in Heaven. But we do not have to wait that long to draw closer to God.

God gives us the gift of His Holy Spirit that helps close that gap while we are here on Earth. His Spirit allows us to hear His guidance and voice, provides direction and correction, and is a link to our Heavenly Father.

With this link, we gain so much more freedom in our lives. No longer are we bound by the sins that plague us; we have the Holy Spirit to fight back. Our hearts become more accessible to loving, serving and giving. Our spirits become lighter and more gentle. The Holy Spirit allows us to do God’s will here on Earth.
