A Better Plan

Ready

“For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.” Habakkuk 1:5b

Set

What are two scary words in sports? Uncertainty and change. These two words can make the strongest athlete shake to their core. Where will I go next year? Will I start? Will this injury keep me out for good? Will my team make it to the championship? Will I ever play again? What comes next?

When we try and plan out our days to how we want them, we are brought to our knees when something happens that we did not plan for. But the beautiful thing about change is that it rests in the beautiful hands of the One who is changing it.

God changed lives every day through Jesus while He walked the Earth. People’s lives were never the same when Jesus came, healed, spread God’s Word, died for our sins, and rose again. Take for example the time when Paul was persecuting Christians. If someone were to come up to Paul and say, “God is going to choose you to write half of the New Testament,” do you think Paul would believe that? No way. But that is what God did to Paul. He changed his entire life. At the time, Paul did not know what God was about to do through him, but God knew.

Even when you cannot see it, God is working. And His plan is better than you will ever begin to imagine. Have faith and trust in God that He is working for His good and your flourishment as His child.

Go
  1. Has there ever been a time where change or uncertainty has scared you?
  2. How can you be confident that God holds your future securely?
  3. In times of uncertainty, how can you have a peaceful heart?

Overtime

“God, sometimes I don’t understand what you are doing. But I know you are a God of promises. Quiet my heart and make it still. Let me trust in Your goodness. You are creating a good plan for me. Amen.”
