Break the Huddle

Why do teams huddle up? Teams come together and huddle to listen intently to their coach giving the play. After, the huddle is broken by a resounding team clap, which signifies the play was received and the athletes will run the play. An athlete wouldn’t go into the huddle only to listen and not go or do. But many times, as Christians, this is exactly what we do.

Church, Bible Studies, and other Christian services are like our huddle. The pastor or speaker will read scripture and deliver a message, telling us the play we need to run. The message is clearly stated in hopes and prayers that those listening will go and do! But often, we listen to the message and break the huddle only to go onto the field of life and leave the play that was called inside the church walls or in our Bible study. We rarely run the play.

God wants us to run the play! He has a game plan for each day we live that will lead us to everlasting life. He uses people like pastors, FCA leaders, coaches, and even peers to pass along His game plan. When we hear a message about God, we must pay attention and prepare to run the play. God knows exactly what He is doing and wants us to see the fruit of His game plan.

Each time you huddle up with your team and get a play, remember God wants you to do the same thing in your life. Don’t just listen to the plays being called; break the huddle and go do it.
