Fresh New Start

Ready

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” -- 2 Corinthians 5:17

Set

Nothing beats the start of a new season. Fans desperately watch to see who the star players will be and which teams will make it to the end or maybe have a perfect record. Despite how poorly a team played the previous season, there is a moment when the playing field evens and last year’s losers are no better or worse than last year’s state champs.

When you become a Christian, you get the same fresh start. Even though you may feel like a complete failure because of your sins and scars from the past, Christ died so that He could wipe those completely clean. In John 3, Jesus used the term born again to describe a Christian’s new start. Like a baby, we get a fresh start in life.

Unlike a new sports season, Christians do not have to worry about a blemished record moving forward. Once you ask Jesus to lead your life, your sins, your past and your future are completely wiped clean. So, the only one holding on to that list of wrongs is you.

Are you willing to give up that list and live freely in forgiveness that is given to all who believe in Jesus?

Go
  • As you approach each season, do you look at it as a fresh start or reflect on the results of the previous season?
  • How can you give up your sins of the past?
Overtime

“Lord, thank You for making me a new creation. May I live a forgiven life and forgive others in the same way You forgive me. Amen.”
