Trust in God

Ready

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.” -- Proverbs 3:5-6

Set

As a professional athlete, God has entrusted me with a measure of talent. That talent has allowed me to achieve a certain amount of success on the golf course. If I’m not vigilant against prideful thoughts, it can be tempting to trust in my own ability. That’s why one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in my life is dependence upon God.

There have been times in my life when I haven’t trusted God completely and I’ve done things on my own. When I lean on my own understanding, it doesn’t make sense to give when finances are tight. When I trust in my own abilities, it might be easier to succumb to temptations on the golf course and hedge in areas of competitive integrity.

But when I put everything in God’s hands, I’m telling Him that I trust Him no matter what happens and no matter how bad things might seem. It’s that surrendered attitude of trust that allows me to have the freedom and peace to compete at a high level, play golf to God’s Glory and let Him take care of the rest.

  • What can you do today to put complete trust in God in every area of your life?
Overtime

“Lord, help me trust You no matter the success or failure I might experience. I trust You with every area of my life. Amen.”
