All are Worthy

Ready

“Then he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” – Mark 16:15

Set

On every team, groups bond better and become closer to some than others.

Finding friends and like-minded individuals is not wrong; you should celebrate that you are forming friendships. When these friendships turn into clicks that tend to exclude others, toxicity takes root. When you exclude other teammates from becoming your friend, you deem that person lesser. You have determined their value based on what you think you know and placed them into suitable categories. I’m not saying that every teammate should end up being your best friend, but you should always give everyone a chance to form relationships with them.

I believe this same idea is what Jesus spoke to when He told His disciples to share His Gospel story with all creation. High tensions between class and religious separation made very distinct groups in the culture around Jesus. I believe Jesus had to make it clear that no matter if the person was a Jew or Gentile, Roman citizen or not, male or female, all deserved a chance to hear the Good News of Jesus.

This reminder to include is one we need often. Scripture provides zero basis for anyone not being worthy of love and connection.

Thus, how do we show this love? We share the Gospel with them and show them God’s steadfast love.

Overtime

“Lord God, we come to You now asking for forgiveness for the times we have deemed others unworthy of our time and friendship. Your Word is clear that we all were created and loved by You. Help us view others the way You do. Amen.”
