The Lord’s Army

Ready

But if it doesn’t please you to worship the Lord, choose for yourselves today the one you will worship: . . . As for me and my family, we will worship the Lord.–Joshua 24:15

Set

I was getting ready this morning, minding my own business when I heard a proclamation from outside my house. It was loud. It was proud. It was my 4-year-old son singing at the top of his voice, “I’m in the Lord’s Army. Yes, sir!” He was sitting with his light saber in hand singing his praise to the General of the Heavenly Host. When we play sports, we go into battle. Sides are drawn, boundaries set, and the battle begins. No matter what the sport, we choose whom we will compete for and against. It is no different in our walk with Christ. Every day we battle against evil. We are in a war for our souls. God wants us to choose a side.

Evan, my son, made his choice. He didn’t care if the neighbors heard him singing about his allegiance. What about us? Can we say the same? Whether we believe it or not, we are in a spiritual army. If we are not with Christ, we are against Him. It is that simple. Every day when we wake up, we must choose whom we will serve that day. Every day I strive to serve Christ.

Satan wants to destroy our land and everyone in it. Let’s sign up for active duty and sing proudly that we are in the Lord’s Army!

Overtime

God, I want to fight on Your side. Help me be confident in my decision to live for You. I pray that Your Holy Spirit will equip me to fight the battle against Satan and his evil schemes. I choose to worship You, Lord. Amen.
