The Lord's Army

Ready

"But if it doesn’t please you to worship the Lord, choose for yourselves today the one you will worship: the gods your fathers worshiped beyond the Euphrates River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my family, we will worship the Lord." -Joshua 24:15

Set

I was at home one morning, just minding my own business, when I heard a proclamation coming from outside of my house. It was loud. It was proud. It was my four-year-old son singing at the top of his voice, “I’m in the Lord’s Army. Yes, sir!” He was sitting against the door with his light saber in hand, singing his praise to the General of the heavenly Host.

When you play sports, you enter into battle. Sides are chosen, boundaries are drawn, and the battle begins. No matter what the sport, you choose whom you will compete for and against. This is no different from your walk with Christ.

Every day you battle against the evil of the world. You are in a war for your soul. The battle began the minute you were born! And today, God wants you to choose whose army you will fight for.

Evan, my son, had made his choice. He was loud and he was proud. He didn’t care if the neighbors heard him singing boldly about his allegiance. What about you? Can you say the same today?

Whether you believe it or not, you are in a spiritual army. If you are not with Christ, then you are against Him. It is that simple. Every day when you wake up, you must choose whom you will serve during that day. Strive every day to serve Christ.

Satan is out to destroy our land and everyone in it. Get with the program, and sign up for active duty! Sing loud and proud that you, this day, are in the Lord’s Army!

Go

1. Can you proudly state today that you are fighting for the Lord’s Army? Why or why not?
2. Are you staying well equipped to fend off Satan’s attacks? If not, how could you be better equipped?
3. How can you start your active-duty service today in the Lord’s Army?

Overtime

God, I want to fight on Your side. Help me be confident in my decision to live my life for You. I pray that Your Holy Spirit will teach me how I can be equipped to fight the battle against Satan and his evil schemes. Today, I choose to worship You, Lord. Amen.
