Roaming Eyes
“For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him.” – 2 Chronicles 16:9
In soccer, the goalkeeper has the best view on the pitch. From their vantage point, they can see each one of their players and the opponents.
A talented goalkeeper will use their view to help their team. Their eyes roam the pitch, looking for ways to help their team. A goalkeeper might see an opponent sneaking along the outer edge of the field and warn their defender of this player. They can move their whole defensive line over and be a second pair of eyes for what their teammates can’t see. As a field player, you expect this from your goalkeeper; that is how they show their commitment and strength to the team.
Did you know that God’s eyes are watching us, looking for ways to help us? God is not distracted or removed from our daily life here on earth. He wants to help us and find opportunities to show His strength here on earth.
We often think we are bugging God when we ask for His assistance. I know I struggle with the idea that God doesn’t care much about my issues, and it’s a burden for Him to help me. This could not be further from the truth. Like our scripture states, for those whose hearts are devoted to God, He is honored and delighted to have opportunities to help and defend us. We are God’s children whom He dearly loves and loves enough to send His Son to the cross so that we might be reunited with Him in Heaven one day.
God is always looking out for us. His eyes roam the earth like a goalkeeper’s eyes roam the pitch. He is always there, ready to help us. He delights in helping His children because we are spared when His strength is shown and His name is glorified across the earth.
Do not be shy today in your requests and approach to God. Go to God, knowing He is always watching and willing to help us in our distress.
- Do you feel asking for God’s assistance is a burden?
- How does knowing God’s “eyes are always roaming” make you feel?
- How have you seen God’s strength in your own life?
“Lord, the knowledge that You are always watching over us and looking for ways to help us is truly comforting. We come before You now, praying You change our mindset so that when we come to You, we do not do so thinking we are a burden but knowing that we are Your cherished children and that You desire to help. Let us never forget Your love. Amen.”
